Day 20
Again, not much happened today. I had more housing meetings and then snuck into class late. After that I decided today was as good a day as any for Pino's because Pino makes quite possibly the best sandwiches in the world (get the Finocchiona if you like pesto)!
It was my friend's birthday so me and my roommate ran a few errands before meeting up at the restaurant to celebrate. We got there and it was super nice. It was the first place since I've been here to serve unlimited free water- then we realized there was a 4€ cover charge and the cheapest thing on the menu was 13€! Given the circumstances, I of course got the 13€ Maccheroni. Not sure if it's somehow related to macaroni and cheese but they're spelled different and are nothing alike. I probably shouldn't have finished it because it was a lot but I took it as a challenge. After the entree, it got kind of weird. The lights turned out and the staff sang as they brought out a birthday cake. But after our friend blew out the candles, they took it away? We got dessert menus and obviously weren't about to get anything. I was planning to never eat again, until- they brought out half baked biscotti. They were chewy and delicious so I had a couple... and then a couple more... and then the plate was gone. Midway through the last one, they brought out the wine that no one told us you're supposed to dip the cookies in. Oops. They brought out another tray of biscotti but the wine was pretty gross plus we actually could not fit anything else in our stomachs. We kind of suck as patrons at fancy restaurants. We will take all your free stuff and only order the cheapest meal. When we got the bill, they brought out limoncello and told us dessert was free. I regret not getting anything but I really could not have fit it.
I ran home after dinner to get to sleep as early as possible, knowing tomorrow would have an early start.
