Piazzale Michelangiolo

2/9/15

Day 25
I got up, studied, and then took my first test so far in Italian and it went really well! After that, I stayed for an extra hour and worked on more grammar and translated song lyrics. I really want to find tv shows in Italian with english subtitles because I think it would help me with listening. I went grocery shopping to finally buy laundry detergent because I waited until the last possible second to conquer the tiny washing machine and no dryer situation. I narrowly avoided buying fabric softener because my google translate was being really slow but came through at the last possible second. For the record, ammorbidente doesn't mean laundry detergent, but if you see bucato somewhere on the label, you're probably safe.

I went with my roommate to a tiny little bakery that has delicious Nutella bread and I should've taken a picture but it was crumbly. Maybe next time, since il definitely have to go back sometime soon!

Since we went on the walk led by our program to Piazzale Michelangiolo, I've been meaning to go back at sunset and take my time to get better pictures. My friend asked me spur of the moment if I wanted to go and now was better than never. While I'm here I want to avoid saying no. So we went! We walked all the way up to San Miniato (the church on the hill that's higher than the piazzale) and even went in and looked around while we waited for the sun to sink.
That was also on my list of things to do before I leave so it was nice to kill 2 birds with one stone.

The sunset was pretty tonight but maybe not even as photogenic as the time I came on a field trip with Renaissance Art History. I want to come back again on a clearer night and actually take pictures from Piazzale Michelangiolo instead of from San Miniato.
